Bill O'Neill, Head Coach
Bill O'Neill enters his 26th season as head coach of the Salem State College ice hockey program. O'Neill has guided the Vikings to 24 ECAC playoff appearances since his arrival on campus in 1981. He has also directed SSC to a pair of NCAA Final Four appearances, six NCAA tournament bids, three ECAC East playoff titles and 19 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference championships.
O'Neill, a Lynn native who grew up in Danvers, was a member of the 1978 Boston University national championship team. After having a tryout with the Boston Bruins, O'Neill began his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant at Norwich University prior to coming to SSC.
The St. John's Prep graduate has directed SSC to five 20 win seasons en route to compiling a 417-255-42 overall record. O'Neill has been heavily involved in USA Hockey over the past quarter century, serving the organization as a highly respected coach and clinician.
O'Neill and his wife Liz reside in South Salem with their children Andrew, Rachel and Will.
