Education Unit

The Education Unit at SSC comprises 45 initial and advanced licensure programs in 26 different fields of education. Programs are housed either in the Department of Education (within the Schools of Human Services [SOHS]) or in the School of Arts and Sciences (SOAS). Communication, coordination and operation within and between programs facilitated by close cooperation between SOHS and SOAS, as well as with the Graduate School and Continuing Education divisions of the college. In some cases, programs are administered jointly by the Department of Education and the cognate SOAS department; examples are the secondary subject matter licensure programs and the Master of Arts in Teaching Programs. The School Business Officer program was jointly developed by the Department of Education, the Graduate School and the School of Business. A coordinator leads each program, monitoring its quality, advising its students, recommending course instructors, and overseeing practica and clinical experiences.
