In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, GRE, GMAT and MTEL testing has temporarily been waived from the application requirements for a number of our graduate programs through spring 2026.
This program leads to a master's degree. It is designed for those who already hold an initial license in elementary education and who are seeking a professional license and a master’s degree, or individuals who are seeking further professional development in the field.
Eligible students can apply for financial aid using the FAFSA.
Graduate programs in elementary education do not require the GRE or MAT.
Additional Requirements for Initial Licensure Track
Passing scores on the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) Communication and Literacy, both the reading and writing subtest.
Demonstrate content/subject matter knowledge via prior coursework or experience: science laboratory work; basic principles and concepts in each of the visual and performing arts (art, music, drama/theater, dance); basic principles and practices in physical education; and basic principles and practices related to personal and family health. Questions about subject matter knowledge can be directed to the elementary education program coordinator.
Deadlines
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed once complete.
The MEd, elementary education initial licensure, MEd, elementary education advanced studies, and licensure-only elementary education programs do not support international students in F or J status due to program modality and/or part-time status. Please contact graduate admissions to verify which programs are suitable.
