TESOL Licensure
This licensure-only program in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages will lead to an initial license in ESOL for qualified candidates. Coursework combined with pre-practicum and practicum requirements as outlined by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will prepare candidates who have a valid initial teaching license or significant graduate coursework in teaching ESOL to obtain licensure in Teaching ESOL in K-12 schools in Massachusetts.
This program will provide a route to licensure for interested students who do not need to complete a full master's degree but whose careers will be enhanced by K-12 licensure in teaching ESOL. Coursework will meet the licensure standards of the Massachusetts DESE and those of NCATE/TESOL and includes pre-practicum hours and a 150-hour supervised practicum.
