As an alternative to mailing your transcripts, your previous institution may send them electronically through a secured source to admissions@salemstate.edu.
High School Transcripts
An official high school/secondary school record, leaving certificate and/or graduation examination results, or their notarized copies must be in English or professionally translated. The translation must include a list of courses completed and the grades received. Admissions officers may use the appropriate means to determine whether the transcript of an international student who graduated from a high school outside of the U.S. is comparable to the required transcript.
College Transcripts
All original college transcripts/credentials from institutions outside the U.S. must have an approved agency's evaluation of courses, grades, academic degrees, and grade point averages.
All original transcripts/credentials from overseas institutions must be in English or professionally translated into English and evaluated by a professional evaluation service.
Approved Agencies
- The Center for Educational Documentation (CED)
- Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE)
- The Evaluation Company (formerly Spantran)
- North American Educational Group (NAEG)
- World Education Services (WES)
Evaluating your transcript usually takes at least three weeks for one of these services to evaluate your transcript.
Please note: to transfer international coursework to Salem State University, official course/subject description or syllabi in English must be submitted (this is not required for the admissions process).
