Frederick E. Berry Library Fund

The Frederick E. Berry Library and Learning Commons is a public good, home to over 1,000 seats, over 150 workstations, 12 reservable group study rooms, and providing access to over 300 databases that include thousands of scholarly articles and resources.

When it comes to supporting our students on a larger scale, financial aid goes far beyond just tuition and fees. We’re proud to work with faculty to make course materials more accessible for students through open educational resources.

With this program, the cost of student materials is drastically reduced, and our faculty receive a stipend to review freely available, quality resources for coursework, giving them the opportunity to personalize teaching resources that are free to students. The amount of savings, over time, across all the schools, across all students, is significant. With the Meet the Moment™ comprehensive campaign, the Berry Library can make an even greater impact on our faculty and students, not only through opportunities like the open educational resources program and the expansion of digital resources, but also through the unification of campus with SSU BOLD, particularly for programs currently housed on South Campus.

Bringing our programs and schools in closer proximity to the library not only leads to students feeling more connected but also gives them the space to dive deeper into their academic work. Unifying the campus will create new opportunities for collaboration across disciplines and foster a stronger sense of community.
