Friends of the School of Social Work
The Friends of the School of Social Work connects social work alumni with one another and with Salem State University through networking events and professional development opportunities. This organization sponsors two professional development workshops each year, one in the spring and one in the fall semesters. The Board of Directors of the Friends of the School of Social Work solicits nominations for and presents an annual Outstanding Social Worker Alumni Award to a bachelor of social work (BSW) or master of social Work (MSW) graduate of Salem State University.
The Friends of the School of Social Work Mission Statement
The mission of the Friends of the School of Social Work is to engage alumni of the Salem State University School of Social Work in programs and activities which advance Salem State University and public education for social workers, and which cultivates and retains the loyalty and support of its alumni, and provides linkage between the educational process and the field of social work.
Professional Development Workshops
The Friends of the School of Social Work offer two professional development workshops per year where social workers may earn CEUs. The next workshop, What About the Second Amendment? Firearm Saftey in Divisive Times, will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 9 am. Reserve a spot at this event.
Outstanding Social Worker Alumni Award
The Friends of the School of Social Work's Outstanding Social Worker Alumni Award honors School of Social Work alumni who have shown dedication to the field of social work by:
- making outstanding contributions to the social work profession
- performing outstanding service in their chosen area
- nurturing professional development of social workers
Please provide as much biographical information as possible to help the screening committee with their decision. Nominate an individual now. Nominations need to be completed on or before March 27, 2022.
