Please join us in honoring the life and contributions of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Our campus celebration will take place on January 22, 2024. This year's theme is: It Starts with Me: Shifting the Cultural Climate Through Kingian Nonviolence.  RSVP to save your spot! 



Event Outline:

  • Convocation and Keynote-11 am-12 pm | Sophia Gordon Center
  • Book Signing/Meet and Greet-12 pm-1 pm | Sophia Gordon Lobby
  • Leadership Luncheon and MLK Award Recognition-1-3 pm | Veterans Hall 
  • MLK Vigil and March-4-6 pm | Start in Veterans Memorial Hall, end in Bertolon Cafe

 

About our Keynote Speaker: 

Dr. Ilyasah Shabazz, Daughter of Malcolm X, Professor and Author 



Dr. Ilyasah Shabazz is an Award-winning Author, Educator and Producer. She has authored five historical novels, has served as project advisor for the PBS award-winning film, Prince Among Slaves documentary, and is currently producing a television series based on her latest publication, The Awakening of Malcolm X, with Sony Pictures Television’s TriStar. 



She is Chairperson of the Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center Board of Trustees. In her work to preserve the legacy of her parents, she has dedicated herself to institution-building and intergenerational leadership development with the tenets of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
