Markus Haala is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice combines diverse artistic processes to examine the complex - and often difficult - relationship between humans and the natural world. Explored through the prism of materiality and drawing from a broad spectrum of (art) historical, philosophical, and eco-political references, Haala explores the complexities of how we define nature, questioning what is perceived as organic and synthetic. His work, anchored in sculptural objects and multimedia elements, investigates conventional views and reflects how belief systems and aesthetic decisions influence our perception of nature, ultimately authorizing us to reshape the world through augmented technologies.
Recently, Haala's fascination with advanced technologies has led him to investigate rapid prototyping methods, such as 3D scanning and printing, to create objects that expand on the concepts of both sculpture and printmaking.
