Graduation Portraits

Congratulations to students who will complete their degree requirements during Summer or Fall 2023! You are invited to sign-up for an appointment to be photographed in your graduation gown by a professional photographer. A link to sign up for appointments will be sent to the SSU email address for each student who applied to graduate. We encourage you to invite your friends and family members to join you in these graduation portraits. Let’s celebrate your important accomplishment!

Graduation Portraits events will be held on Thursday, December 14 or Friday, December 15 from 2 pm-6:30 pm in the Classroom Building (Bertolon) Cafe on Harrington (Central) Campus, located one floor below the Student Navigation Center. Individual appointments will be available every few minutes, allowing students to attend with friends at or near the same time frame. Students may choose up to 10 guests to accompany them for the group photographs. 

Guests Seeking Language Support- Hablamos Espanol! We recognize that many of our graduates are part of families where English may not be the first language. During the event, staff who speak Spanish will be available to welcome guest and provide information and directions in Spanish. Staff will be wearing buttons to make themselves visible and accessible to guests who could use language support.

Please email commencement@salemstate.edu to let us know that members of your party would like assistance from one of the Spanish-speaking staff members at the ceremony, so that we may prepare staffing accordingly. Advise your guests to look for the buttons these staff members will be wearing when they arrive.

Parking is available across Loring Avenue from the Classroom (Bertolon) Building in the Harrington (Central) Campus lots located between Canal Street and Loring Avenue. 

Free Print! Each student may choose one 5x7 print for free. Proofs from the photographs will be sent to each student who participates. There is no charge to pose for photos and no obligation to purchase for participating in the professional photographs.  

Students who completed their degree requirements last summer or this fall will be invited to attend their school’s or college’s commencement ceremony in May 2024. Please continue to monitor the Salem State webpage and your SSU email for information about these events, such as when to pick up your cap and gown or claim your commencement tickets.
