As part of our campus effort to better understand how the change in U.S. Presidential leadership may impact your life and those of your loved ones, we are beginning a series of programming around issues important to our students and other campus members.
The first program Know Your Rights: A Discussion About Immigration will feature Susan Church, JD, a leading immigration expert, who will hold a hyflex campus discussion on Monday, December 9 at noon. This event will take place in the Ellison Campus Center’s Metro Room on North Campus. Please join us at this in-person event with a remote option. The link for remote participation is: https://salemstate.zoom.us/j/87214550343?pwd=aZRMTyumw9B9nFM38qyB2qb3mFZYRv.1
Attorney Church is currently the chief operating officer for the Commonwealth’s Office for Refugees and Immigrants (ORI). A distinguished attorney, she has spent more than 25 years advocating for immigration rights. Her goal is to help achieve ORI’s mission of “full participation of refugees and immigrants as self-sufficient individuals and families in the economic, social and civic life of Massachusetts." Atty. Church’s efforts on behalf of others have been recognized by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, Suffolk Law School, and she was honored with a Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Attorney of the Year award.
Our community will also receive information about immigration, LGBTQIA+ and other relevant programs that will be held on campus during the spring semester; these include conversations, presentations and trainings. These events will be featured in What’s New and on our website calendar starting after winter break.
