Angie Benitez (she/they) graduated from Salem State in 2018 with a BA in Modern/Contemporary Dance and continues to study with local New England based artists like Audrey MacLean, Alexandria Nunweiler, and Kristin Wagner. Angie has immersed herself in teaching dance to all ages and performing in the Greater Boston area at local studios, schools and residencies through organizations such as The Click (of which she is a cofounding member), Human Movement Project, and High Street Studios. She has shown her work and performed at arts festivals and events such as Roots & Routes, Mass Poetry Festival, Queer & Trans Poets Showcase, Verse / Visual, 24 Hour ChoreoFest, Salem Arts Festival, and more. Much of her work is focused on collaboration and intergenerational community. This work has earned her grants from the New England Foundation of the Arts, local cultural councils, and the Boston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs. When they're not leading class, you can find them writing poetry, creating fiber art, and meditating with their plants.
