Climate Change and Psychological Well-Being: Impacts and Resilience

Thursday, September 28, Veterans Hall | Reception at 1:15 pm, talk at 1:40 pm

Dr. Susan Clayton, professor of psychology at the College of Wooster, will speak on climate change and psychological well-being. Climate change is increasingly apparent, and there is increasing awareness of the current and potential impacts for human well-being.

This presentation will review current knowledge about the psychological impacts of climate change, with particular attention to emotional responses such as climate anxiety and moral distress and their effect on young people. I will also describe the inequitable distribution of these impacts and responses. The presentation will conclude by discussing psychological resilience and ways in which it can be understood and enhanced.

This event is sponsored by the Psychology Department and Earth Days.
