Tri-Alpha (First-Generation) National Honor Society Membership Forms Due

Invitations to join Tri-Alpha (Alpha Alpha Alpha), the national first-generation honor society have been sent via email to students who may meet the qualifications to join.  Details can be found on the Tri-Alpha chapter website.  The deadline to submit the membership form and fee is Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

Students who may be facing financial hardship and still want to join may apply for limited scholarships to cover the membership fees.  Applications are due Thursday, December 19, 2024.

If students did not get an invitation in their Salem State e-mail and meet the qualifications, the First-Generation Student Success Center is happy to review their eligibility. The university may not be aware that certain students are first-generation and would like the opportunity to honor exemplary academic achievement.  To qualify for membership, students must:

1. Identify as a first-generation college student (neither of your parents have completed a four-year bachelor's degree in the US

2. Have completed the required number of credits: 30 for undergraduate candidates and 9 for graduate candidates

3. Have earned the minimum required GPA: 3.2 for undergraduate candidates and 3.5 for graduate candidates

If a student received an invitation to join but does not meet the definition of first-generation as defined above, please contact the First-Generation Student Success Center so we can update your student file.
