The Salem State Writers Series invites noted authors of short stories, biography, poetry, memoir and essays to share their work at free readings throughout the academic year. These events also include annual student and faculty readings.

All Writers Series events are free and open to the public.

Brian Brodeur is the author of four poetry collections, most recently Some Problems with Autobiography (2023), which won the 2022 New Criterion Prize. New poems and literary criticism appear in Hopkins Review, Los Angeles Review of Books, The New Criterion, and The Writer’s Chronicle. Brian lives with his wife and daughter in the Whitewater River Valley. He teaches at Indiana University East.

 

JD Debris is the author of THE SCORPION'S QUESTION MARK (Autumn House Press, 2023) winner of the 2022 Donald Justice Prize. He earned a BA from Salem State University and an MFA from New York University, where he was a Goldwater Fellow. A 2023 DISQUIET Fellow, his work has received further awards from Narrative and Ploughshares. As a recording artist, his releases include the albums BLACK MARKET ORGANS and JD DEBRIS MURDER CLUB.

This event will be held in the Petrowski Room on the second floor of March Hall on the Harrington Campus.
