Alpha Lambda Delta honors Dr. Lee. A Brossoit

Salem State University’s chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta, the national first year honor society recognizing academic excellence in a student’s first year, recently recognized Dr. Lee. A. Brossoit for his 34+ years of making an impact at the university. Dr. Brossoit currently serves as the Assistant Vice-President of the Center for Academic Excellence.  On Friday, March 2, it was announced that a new scholarship awards program was being implemented in his name.

The Dr. Lee A. Brossoit Awards will recognize members of Alpha Lambda Delta who have excelled in their pursuit of excellence. Four awards will be given out annually in each of the following categories: Commitment to Service, Commitment to Social Justice, Commitment to Academic Excellence and Commitment to Leadership. Each award will be accompanied by a scholarship.

As stated during the ceremony, “Dr. Brossoit’s championing of student success has been unparalleled…the three candles lit as part of the induction ceremony represent knowledge, truth, and honor.  Dr. Brossoit embodies these characteristics, and we are proud to name this scholarship awards program after him.”

A plaque will be installed outside of the Office of Student Success and First Year Experience highlighting Dr. Brossoit and the annual award recipients.  Alpha Lambda Delta honors the top 20% of first year students at Salem State University who must also have met the minimum 3.5 GPA requirement. 130 students were inducted into the organization in spring 2024.
