Celebrating Senior Research Excellence: Geological Sciences Students Inducted into Sigma Xi

Apr 15, 2025

This past week, six of our seniors in the Geological Sciences (Drew Berman, Brad Conha, Madison DeFelice, Seth Osorio, Molly Ryan, and Crow Zorzy) attended the Annual Induction Ceremony and Lecture for the Sigma Xi Honour Society (North Shore Chapter) at Endicott College.  These students also presented their research at the Sigma Xi 16th annual research symposium in February, with three of the students opting for invited talks (Drew Berman, Madison DeFelice, and Molly Ryan). Inducting our seniors who have shown excellence in independent scientific research was such a privilege, and we are so proud of their accomplishments and their membership in this prestigious honour society!

About Sigma Xi:

This honour society was founded in 1886 to further “excellence in scientific investigation and encourage a sense of companionship and cooperation among researchers in all fields of science.” One of the few honour societies that transcends discipline, it is one of the oldest and largest scientific organisations in the world, with more than 60,000 members in over 100 countries. The North Shore chapter was founded in 2009 with members from Endicott, Gordon, and Salem State, including our very own Dr. Brad Hubeny.
