Cultural Immersion and Service Learning Trip to Jamaica

Jan 29, 2018

Each spring, the Maguire Meservey College of Health and Human Service offers a unique learning experience for eligible nursing and occupational therapy students. Led by our faculty, and in conjunction with the University of West Indies and the Tropical Medicine Research Institute Sickle Cell Unit, students spend a week in Jamaica achieving several specific objectives.

The purpose of this journey is to promote in our students' knowledge, skills and attitudes that foster culturally consistent care. It also partners students with populations and organizations that assess and respond to various health needs. Overall, it is a terrific opportunity for students to tie practical learning into their academic learning objectives.
