Dr. Anna Rocca is the new Regional Representative of Women in French in New England and Eastern Canada

Mar 30, 2015

Dr. Anna Rocca has been elected as the Regional Representative of Women in French in New England and Eastern Canada. The region includes: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec.

MLA Allied Organization, Women in French (WIF) is a scholarly association whose goal is to promote the study of French and Francophone women authors, the study of women’s place in French and Francophone cultures or literatures, and feminist literary criticism.

The position lasts 3 years, from 2015 to 2018, and responsibilities include:

  • serving as liaisons with the Regional MLAs;
  • overseeing the WIF sessions and social events at the conferences; and
  • publicizing WIF and its activities to colleagues in their respective regions in order to recruit new members.

Dr. Rocca’s primary goal is to also reach a broader representation of women, particularly those in developing countries, who would enrich WIF and the reciprocal understanding of the forms in which feminism manifests itself.

Since 2013, Dr. Rocca also serves as the French and Francophone Literatures Director at NeMLA—Northeast Modern Language Association.
