Dr. Noel Healy organizes international workshop on anti-fossil fuel politics at UC, Berkeley

Professor Noel Healy (Salem State University) and Fergus Green (London School of Economics) organized and facilitated a workshop with leading national and international scholars on the topic of “Anti-fossil fuel politics: Social Activism, Government Policy and International Cooperation”. The worked hosted by the Department of Environmental Science Policy and Management (ESPM) UC, Berkeley included scholars from the University of Michigan, Stanford University, London School of Economics, University of British Columbia, the Centre for International Climate and Environmental Research Oslo (CICERO), the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), and UC Berkeley (list of speakers below)

Dr. Noel Healy is currently a visiting scholar at the Department of ESPM. His sabbatical work at UC Berkeley involves examining the impacts of fossil fuel resistance movements in confronting carbon lock-in, (2) socio-environmental impacts of unconventional natural gas extraction and open-pit coal mining, and (3) transitional justice and “just transition” actions for fossil-fuel-rich third-world countries.
