Duxbury Resident Named to Salem State Board of Trustees

Ruthanne Russell of Duxbury, Massachusetts has been appointed to the Salem State University Board of Trustees by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker. Ms. Russell is a 1982 graduate of Salem State University, receiving her bachelor of science degree in business education.

“Ruthanne brings a unique and useful skill set to the Salem State Board of Trustees given her background in human resources and training. Her dedication to the university is clear through her service on a number of boards and advisory committees. I am pleased to have Ruthanne’s commitment and expertise as we work to advance the university’s mission,” Chair of the Salem State Board of Trustees Paul Mattera said.

As a Salem State University Trustee, Ms. Russell serves on the following committees: institutional advancement; marketing and communications; academic affairs; and student life. Ms. Russell also serves on the Salem State University Career Services Advisory Board, Board of Overseers, and Bertolon School of Business Advisory Council. She is a member of the Human Resource Leadership Forum, Society of Human Resources Management, NEHRA Executive Forum, and a former member of the Boston University Executive Development Roundtable.

Since 2011, Ms. Russell has served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Hill Holliday in Boston, overseeing all aspects of human resources for the company. Prior to her work at Hill Holliday, she was a human resources executive at Talbot’s, Bright Horizons Family Solutions, and State Street Corporation. Ms. Russell also served on the Foundation Board of Massasoit Community College and is a current board member at Bottom Line, a non-profit organization that works to address the low college graduation rate of low-income and first-generation students.
