The Center for Research and Creative Activities (CRCA) offers tenured or tenure-track faculty grants for a limited number of editing hours for the 2023-24 academic year to help prepare manuscripts for publication.
This support includes such activities as preparing a manuscript to meet particular journal or publisher specifications; proofreading manuscripts for typos, grammatical errors, and mechanical issues that elude the author’s eye due to overfamiliarity; editing an index; and double-checking complex citations.
Editing support is currently provided by CRCA program assistant Jessica Cook ('22G; part-time faculty, English), who is available in five hour increments.
Note: The manuscript for which you seek editing support should be in its final stages of production; the grant is not intended for rough drafts. Awards will be made on the strength and appropriateness of the proposed project.
If you are interested in this service, please send a brief (less than one page) request in which you identify:
- The specific project, intended for publication, for which you seek support
- The specific type of editorial support you seek
- The intended outcome
- A one-page sample of the text you wish to have edited
Submit these materials to the Salem State Research Hub with “Editing Support Grant” in the subject line. Up to five hours of editing support for qualified projects (manuscripts in the final stages of production) will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
