To the Campus, Gassett Fitness Center Members, and local Community:
As the university navigates the challenging landscape presented by the current pandemic, Salem State University has made the decision to delay the opening of the Gassett Fitness Center.
Although the staff within Campus Life and Recreation that operate the Gassett Fitness Center will continue providing programs and services, we will not open access to any fitness equipment until further notice. Students, members and local patrons should expect for the fall semester to begin with the fitness center closed.
In the interim, the Campus Life and Recreation staff will continue to host group exercise classes, programs and events in socially distant and safe ways, while continuing to monitor state and public health guidance. We have taken the phased approach from the state into consideration and will communicate a reopening plan when appropriate.
The Gassett Fitness Center will ensure that paid memberships are extended to account for this interruption in service. Any questions can be directed to kjanos@salemstate.edu.
