As a part of the SSU GLS seminar series, Dr Chenyang Cai (the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology) will take students on a journey through the lives of Cretaceous insects, exploring behaviours like pollination, fungal feeding, and predation. Preserved in amber, these tiny fossil records reveal intricate relationships between insects, plants, fungi, and animals, offering a deeper understanding of ancient ecosystems and their evolution. Throughout this interactive exploration, students will reflect on insightful questions connecting these ancient interactions to modern ecosystems, biodiversity, and their environmental implications.
