Glassblowing Residency Attracts Artists from Outside the United States
Jul 1, 2016

Salem State is thrilled to welcome four extraordinary glass artists to campus for the 2016 Rosenberg Institute for Passionate and Emerging Artists. This year marks the first time artists from outside the United States will be part of the group with the selection of Clare Wilson from England and Keith Walker from Canada. They will be joined by Robert LaMontagne of Alaska and Charles Lowrie of Hawaii. Now in its fourth year the residency provides these artists with the opportunity to explore an idea or series of ideas in the medium of glass, free from economic restraints. They live on campus and work in Salem State’s Glassworks Studio for the month of July.

The residency also includes four public demonstrations by the artists. These will be held on July 11, 18, 25 and August 1 at 6 pm and are free. The August 1 demo includes an artist’s reception at 5:30 pm. The Glassworks Studio is located in the Enterprise Center, 121 Loring Ave.

This program is made possible through the generosity of Ira and Judy Rosenberg.
