Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week

Saturday, November 14: Service Saturday non-perishable food drive at Stop and Shop in Swampscott.  All donations will benefit local food pantries. Volunteer all morning or come for a shift. Shift 1: 9-10:30 am and the van leaves Marsh Hall at 8:30 am. Shift 2: 10:30 am- 12 pm and the van leaves Marsh Hall at 10 am. To volunteer, email: service@salemstate.edu

Week of November 16: Winter Clothing Drive in all six residential Halls. Boxes will be near the entrances of each residential hall. All donations will benefit Lifebridge Homeless Shelter, Salem.

Monday, November 16 and Tuesday, November 17: Hunger and Homelessness Mural. Add your handprint to the campus mural located outside of the North Dining Hall to honor yourself or anyone you know who has experienced hunger and homelessness. 

Monday, November 16, 11 am-1 pm and throughout the week: Stop by the American Democracy Project’s interactive Speak Up, Speak Out, Speak Now table at the North Dining Hall to learn more about hunger and homelessness.

Wednesday, November 18 at 5 pm: Come by Meier Hall 238 for the film screening of “Storied Streets.” Following the film there will be a panel discussion in homelessness in Salem and nearby communities.

Saturday, November 21: Join MASSPIRG members for a service trip to Joseph’s Storehouse, a food pantry in Salem. Meet at Ellison Campus Center at 8 am. To volunteer email: n_hou@salemstate.edu.
