Nov 14, 2017

Cheryl Williams PhD RN CNE NP-C and Laurie Dickstein-Fischer PhD LMHC NCC, both SSU Assistant Professors, presented a poster at the Fall MA Action Coalition Summit on November 2017 entitled " I Want to Become a Nurse Campaign:  How School Nurses Can Shape Middle and High School Students’ Perceptions of Nursing. The presentation was at the MA Action Coalition (MAAC) summit. Fort Devens, MA.  The MA Action Coalition task force works in close alliance with the Department of Higher Education to promote a Culture of Health for our Commonwealth residents.  School nurses are an "untapped " resource to assist in the engagement, recruitment, and education of middle school students interested in nursing as a career choice.

In addition to prevention and wellness initiatives, the MAAC improves access and affordability for all nurses (LPNs as well) to improve their education by enrolling more nurses in baccalaureate or higher.
