Last night, during normal facilities rounds, some concerning conditions were observed in the building that demanded assessment.
For safety reasons, it was decided to close Meier Hall today so the situation can be evaluated by the appropriate professionals. To provide additional time for this assessment, all activities scheduled to take place in Meier Hall today, this evening and tomorrow, will be held remotely or will be postponed.
Faculty members should communicate the change in Friday’s course delivery format directly with their students.
All Meier Hall classrooms, offices and services, including the copy center and Dunkin, are closed today and tomorrow, and no one should be entering the building without permission from Provost Silva or Gene Labonte. At this time, access will only be granted to employees who need to ensure the proper care of living animals.
The community will be updated with further information when it is available. A decision about the use of Meier Hall on Tuesday will be forthcoming. Thank you for your patience while our teams learn more about this situation. As it has been shared many times on our campus, safety is our top priority and taking Meier Hall off-line today and tomorrow is the appropriate, cautious plan of action.
