New Members Join Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society

Feb 29, 2016

First year experience was pleased to hold the fourth Alpha Lambda Delta induction ceremony on Friday, February 26, 2016. A total of 227 first-year and new transfer students were inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta this year. Joined by Provost David Silva, and their family and friends, students were officially inducted by receiving a pin and membership certificate.

Jingwen Yan, student success coach and advisor of Alpha Lambda Delta, was thrilled to see so many families at the ceremony to celebrate their students’ success, “being inducted by Alpha Lambda Delta means these students have worked extra hard during their first year of college. Their academic success proves that they have great qualities to be excellent.”

Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honor society for first year students. In order to be inducted, students must have a 3.5 or higher GPA (on a 4.0-point scale), or the equivalent, and must be in the top 20 percent of their class during the first semester at Salem State University. In fact, this year, students who were in the top 20 percent of their class had a GPA higher than 3.6, which means the Alpha Lambda Delta qualification process was extremely competitive.

Students who were inducted all proved their success during their first year at our institution. Their academic excellence serves as an example for students who will come after them. First year experience is excited to watch the success they will achieve in the future!
