Professor Rebeca Hains (media and communication) spent a week at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland, presenting at the April conference: Humanity/Humanities her research paper, “The erasure of counter-stereotypical female characters from Disney’s transmedia toys: Exploring toy, media and audience tensions” (forthcoming in Routledge’s Companion to Girls’ Studies) and guest lecturing in the Institute of English Studies. Her stay in Kraków was sponsored by the "Memory and Trauma" Initiative of Excellence grant at the Jagiellonian University, which brings together six scholars from Germany, France, Poland and the U.S. to form a research network which explores various contexts of social, racial, gender and historical exclusion in the U.S.
