Longtime Salem resident Reynaldo Ramos has been named senior director of purchasing and vendor relations for Salem State University. A Salem State alumnus, Ramos brings more than 10 years of experience in purchasing and vendor relations to the university.
In his new role, Ramos will work on behalf of Salem State to ensure the university’s compliance with federal and state laws regarding its policies and procedures related to the procurement of supplies and services, which include the development and administration of request for proposals (RFP’s) and contracts, the obtainment of insurance coverages, and the management of Salem State’s relationships with selected vendors.
Karen House, vice president for finance and facilities at Salem State, said, “Reynaldo is an experienced and credentialed purchasing professional who will be a wonderful addition to our team. We are thrilled to have a proud alumnus step into this role, helping to move our university forward by directing a smart, strategic and value-added purchasing function.”
Since graduating from Salem State in 2010, Ramos, 43, has held various purchasing and vendor relations positions at North Shore Community College (NSCC), most recently serving as a procurement and accounts payable manager.
Ramos said, “As a Salem State graduate, I see myself in our students. The most rewarding aspect of my job is to see students enter and complete their degrees. I’m privileged to be selected as the university’s senior director of purchasing and vendor relations because of Salem State’s reputation for academic excellence, how highly regarded Salem State is among state universities, and how much the university means to all the residents of Salem, the North Shore region and beyond.”
Ramos received his bachelor’s of science in business administration, accounting and finance from Salem State in 2014 and his associate’s degree in business accounting from NSCC in 2009. He is a Massachusetts certified public purchasing official and is a member of the Massachusetts Higher Education Consortium as well as the National Association of Educational Procurement.
