Join us for our exciting new Conservation and Recreation Leadership Fellows program!

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, in partnership with the Salem State University Recreation Management concentration, is launching a new summer fellowship program in Summer 2023.

Over the course of a paid 12 week-internship, university students from across the commonwealth will work with leaders throughout the DCR to gain hands-on training and exposure to all aspects of conservation and recreation management including but not limited to forestry, fire management, project design, engineering, interpretation, rules education and park operations.

Participants will explore the impacts of climate change on the properties DCR stewards and participate in discussions to best address potential impacts for future stewardship. The program will foster leadership skills and provide career development opportunities.

Requirements

Junior standing with 60 credits. GPA of 2.75 or above. Desire to learn about Massachusetts’ environmental challenges and to make a difference.

Students must be signed up for an internship with Salem State's recreation management concentration and pay all associated tuition/fees.
