The Salem State University Board of Trustees voted at its June 8, 2022 meeting to award tenure to two professors, tenure and promotions to 11 professors, and promotions to 10 tenured professors. The Board also granted emeritus status to four recently retired professors.
“Salem State’s academic excellence is the foundation of its value to the region,” said Board of Trustees Chair Rob Lutts. “I am honored that the Board was able to recognize the accomplishments of these faculty members whose commitment to our students, the university and their fields of study has been exceptional.”
“Those earning tenure or promotion each presented clear evidence of substantive contributions in all four areas of professional responsibility,” said Provost David Silva, “continuing scholarship, teaching effectiveness, academic advising, and service.”
Professors upon whom emeritus status was conferred were recognized for their long-term commitment to the university.
“Our newest emeritus professors represent a grand total of 130 years of service to the institution,” added Silva.
