SSU Biology students and their mentors attend Northeast Algal Symposium in New York

Professors Popolizio and Green-Gavrielidis and four SSU Biology students (Olivia Davis, Chloe Leano, Hannah Siegmund, and Zachary Smith) attended the 63rd Annual Northeast Algal Symposium (NEAS) in New York this April.

Olivia presented the collaborative research she conducted with Dr. Popolizio and fellow Biology major Gio Corbett in a poster titled "Molecular and Taxonomic Assessment of Red Algal Biodiversity and Introduced Species on Massachusetts' North Shore."

Dr. Green-Gavrielidis accepted the 2025 Collins Service award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to NEAS in her role as society treasurer and more.
