Salem State University Theatre was awarded multiple awards at this years Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Regional Festival held at Western Connecticut State University. Salem State Theatre has shown continued success at this event over the past 30 years and the 2016 festival once again showcased how Salem State sets the standard for excellence in college and university theater!
Among the award winners were:
Isabel Samuel who won a Stage Source Institute Award for her Lighting Design of SST's production of Grapes of Wrath.
Morgan Flynn who won the David Wheeler Directing Award for actor/director communication for her scene from Tribes that was performed at the Regional Festival.
Matt Lundergan who won First Place for Directing from the Stage Directors and Choreographers Union (SDC) and will be going to Nationals in Washington, D.C. in April for a week.
In addition, Mat Stanley received a musical theatre scholarship for the Open Jar Institute where he will workshop with for a week in New York City, and then to continue to Washington, D.C. for a week to compete for their national award at the Kennedy Center National Festival in April.
