Stress Free Finals

Advice, food and fun for a great semester's end

The blustery winter air ushers in thoughts of final exam season, with all the anxiety about long study sessions, polishing off papers, and finalizing presentations. Offices across campus are coming together to ease students’ end-of-semester stress and help ensure they finish off their fall courses successfully.

Library Extended Hours and Events

Sore shoulders from hunching over your keyboard? Drop by the library on Monday, December 14 and Tuesday, December 15 from 3:30-6:30 for a chair massage! Massages will be available in the foyer of the library, between the entrance and the Center for Academic Excellence.

From December 15-17, the library will be open 24 hours a day. During this time snacks and coffee will be offered at night (while supplies last!)

Student Activities “Winter Chill”

December 15-18, 11 am–1 pm and 6-8 pm

Wrapping Paper Madness!

Between papers, exams and packing for break, wrapping holiday gifts can fall through the cracks. Never fear! Student involvement and activities is supplying students with wrapping supplies for every holiday.

Color Yourself Calm

Just need a break? Coloring isn’t just for kids anymore – it’s an incredibly soothing stress reliever for all ages! Check out supplies at the Ellison Campus Center information desk.

‘Twas the Night Before Finals

December 15, 10 pm – 12 am

The countdown is on! Up late? Drop by Marsh Dining from for breakfast food, games, gel art, and more!

Residence Hall Fun

Resident Directors are putting their own twist on activities for their residents.

Atlantic Hall presents a “Make your Own Finals Survival and Snack Kit” on Monday, December 14 at 8 pm

Bates Complex residents can join the fun for a gingerbread house making contest on Friday, December 10 and 7 pm.

Viking residents should be on the lookout for an Elf of the Shelf on Monday, December 14 with helpful tips and snacks.

Faculty in Residence for Viking and Atlantic Halls will hold “De-stress before finals” events, with conversations about healthy snacking, homemade stress balls and stress relief twist sticks. Residents can join the fun on Tuesday, December December 15 from 11 am-12 pm (Viking) and 12-1 pm (Atlantic).
