A message from President Keenan
May 25, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

Last week we celebrated the Class of 2020. From video messages to Zoom gatherings, from congratulatory emails to Saturday’s drive through parade, our Viking pride was on full display.

If you haven’t yet, I hope you’ll take a moment to view our virtual conferral of degrees, and you can find photos from our drive-by commencement celebration on Salem State’s Facebook page.

Thank you to everyone who showed up in person and behind the scenes to make this day special for our graduates. At a time of year that would normally have featured our Employee Appreciation Day, I would like to take this opportunity to let you know how much I appreciate you and all that you bring to Salem State. Although the spring 2020 semester is one that we will never forget, we must remember the good work we did together throughout this academic year and how we rallied around our students in the past couple of months.

Your care, flexibility, and perseverance ensured that the spirit of commencement wasn’t dampened by these trying times. I have never been prouder.

As we continue to physically distance throughout the weeks ahead, I encourage you to continue taking advantage of the wide variety of “Bringing SSU to YOU!” virtual events that have allowed you to connect with your colleagues in creative ways.

Thank you for your contributions to our community,

Sincerely,

John D. Keenan

President
