What made you choose Salem State?
I chose Salem State because when I walked onto campus, it instantly felt like a tight-knit community in which I knew I would thrive.
What are three words you would use to describe the Viking Community? Why?
Salem State is a welcoming, tight-knit, and helpful community. They give us the resources and connections to truly help us thrive as individuals, both in and outside the classroom.
What is one thing you think a prospective student should know about Salem State?
I think they should know that as much as your first year can be overwhelming and scary, it will be a year of growth and discovering what you enjoy and want to do in your future.
What have you done at SSU that you are most proud of?
I am most proud of putting myself out there by joining many clubs, finding an on-campus job, and getting ready to apply to the 4+1 master’s program.
How would you describe the professors at SSU?
They are wonderful and kind; they always check to make sure we are on track and just want us to pass their class. They invest their time and effort into getting to know us, establishing a connection that enables us to get to know them well and form a relationship with the professor that makes it easy for us to reach out when we need guidance or help.
What has been your favorite class to take?
My favorite class so far has been my oral communication class. I know that may sound surprising, but having an amazing professor really makes a class. That class helped me grow my confidence.
What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite places on campus are either Starbucks or the tables at Alumni Plaza.
What is your favorite memory at SSU?
My favorite memory is meeting the amazing people in my life in ways I would have never imagined. I also make tons of memories by exploring and trying new things around campus. The spring concerts are one of my favorite things to look forward to.
Do you live in a residence hall? What has been your favorite part about living on campus?
I live in Charlotte Forten Hall. My favorite thing about living on campus is that it allows you to meet new people every day and get fully involved in all that the Salem State community has to offer.
How do you feel SSU has helped you get career-ready?
I feel that Salem State has helped in many ways. The professors and staff really want to help. The Career Services Office has given me comfort in knowing that when I apply for the 4+1 program or apply for internships down the line, they will be more than willing to help
