Thinking about how to finance your program?
We keep students at the center of everything we do. Because we understand the importance of providing flexibility so that you can start at a time that is best for you, we offer six start dates each year.
We also provide flexibility in the ways that you can pay for classes. Whether you want to pay in full or pay in monthly installments, we have you covered! Students can pay their account balances by bank account, wire transfer, credit card or by money order.
Required Fees
All required fees are included in the cost of each course at a pro-rated amount. Below is an explanation of each fee and the amount for full-time students who study 18 clock hours per week in our Intensive English Language Program (IELP) or Summer American Culture and English Immersion Program (ACEI). Fees are pro-rated for part-time students according to the number of weeks and hours they study.
- Course Fee – provides you access to English language instruction
- Materials Fee – provides you access to course textbooks and online learning resources
- University Fee – provides you access to university services and facilities such as, the fitness center, library, counseling and health services, etc.
- Student Government Association (SGA) Fee – provides you access to student life activities and events

Optional Fees
All optional fees can be included in a monthly payment plan with required course fees. As a non-degree student, you have the option of purchasing private health insurance or the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) through Salem State University. Students who opt into student health insurance may choose to be charged for the full semester or academic year depending on their registration plans.

The evening Community Life and Work ESL Program provides busy adult learners of English with a curriculum that focuses on daily life and workplace situations to improve language skills for career advancement and life in the local community.

The American Culture and English Immersion program provides you with the perfect summer destination to experience life and culture in the United States while building language skills for specific purposes.
