The Center for Teaching Innovation (CTI) strives to inspire and support the professional growth and development of faculty at Salem State University. We know that compassionate and creative approaches to teaching can help make SSU a more inclusive campus community for all of us. We understand teaching as a critical practice that is driven by inquiry, reflection, and collaboration. We believe that teaching is an ever-changing, lifelong pursuit, and we provide opportunities and resources to help our faculty provide an exemplary educational experience to our students.
We offer opportunities for faculty to refine their approaches to teaching and learning, connecting them to approaches that strengthen student success and engagement. We place particular emphasis on the roles that innovation and iteration play in addressing the changing needs of SSU students in the twenty-first century. We support faculty investments in accessibility, equity, and innovation in the classroom. In recent years we have helped our community navigate the challenges and uncertainties of teaching through a pandemic by embracing multiple forms of course delivery and by making effective use of educational technologies to meet the needs of our students.
Overall, we aim to cultivate, amplify, and illuminate teaching excellence, connecting teachers to instructional designers and peer support networks as well as celebrating the creative and innovative achievements of our SSU faculty.
