Careers in History
As a history major, you will learn to think critically, conduct research, analyze issues from multiple perspectives, and write persuasively, all vital skills that many professions and employers demand. A significant number of history majors enter the teaching profession and some go on to law school or other professional program paths, while others work as archivists, historic preservationists, information managers, journalists and writers, librarians, and museum professionals. Given its historical importance, the Boston metropolitan area is especially rich in opportunities for history majors interested in the collection, preservation, and interpretation of New England’s historic and cultural resources. History might be focused on the past, but it can lead you to a bright future and a rewarding career.
