Students can get involved with ongoing research projects with psychology faculty or initiate their own research projects with a faculty sponsor. All courses require faculty and chair permission and necessary forms and documents. Speak with your PSY advisor or a faculty member you would like to work with to start the process.
The following courses can be used to earn credit for doing psychology research:
- PSY531 Independent Research in Psychology
- PSY601H Honors Independent Research in Psychology
Students can also use the following Independent Study courses if additional semesters are required or for early stages of research development (literature review, study design and IRB applications, etc.)
- PSY 530 Directed Study in Psychology
- PSY 600H Honors in Psychology

- Application form for directed study
- College of Arts and Sciences Agreement Form: student and faculty roles and responsibilities
