Title IX Reporting Form: Title IX prohibits discrimination based on sex or gender in any federally funded education program or activity. Sex discrimination is a broad umbrella that includes but is not limited to: sexual violence, stalking, sexual assault and dating violence. Any community member who has been the victim of sexual assault or any other sex-based discrimination is highly encouraged to seek support and consider making a report here.
Bias Incident Reporting Form: Salem State University unequivocally denounces acts of bias or hate and pledges to respond in ways that reinforce our values, prioritize education and pursue personal accountability. The university defines a bias incident as any act, conduct or communication that reasonably is understood to demean, degrade, threaten or harass an individual or group based on an actual or perceived characteristic. Community members who witness or experience bias are encouraged to notify the university here.
Racial Trauma Resource Guide: Racism and racial discrimination can negatively affect your physical and mental health. Regardless of your previous awareness, you may find yourself struggling to process your reactions to current and/or past experiences of racism and racial discrimination—reflecting an experience known as racial trauma. The racial trauma resource card provides information on racial trauma and resources to foster resilience and healthy coping.
Salem State Police Department LGBTQIA+ Liaison: Officer Glenn Young (he/him/his) serves as the LGBTQIA+ Liaison for the Salem State University Police Department. In their role, Officer Young is an additional community resource for LGBTQIA+ students and coordinates departmental programs to support the LGBTQIA+ community on campus. Affirming Care on Campus: Salem State University Counseling and Health Services offers LGBTQIA+ affirming and multiculturally competent care to students. Additionally, they can offer community practitioner and health resource referrals for LGBTQIA+ students and students of color. Students should schedule an appointment through the university health portal.
PEAR Office: The Prevention, Education, Advocacy, and Response Program is dedicated to the prevention of sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking. PEAR provides programs, training, workshops, and discussions on consent, healthy and unhealthy relationships, gender and sexuality, masculinity, bystander intervention, and more. Salem State Student Emergency Fund: The Salem State University Emergency Fund supports students who are facing unexpected job loss, emergency medical expenses, or housing/food insecurities. While applying is not a guarantee that you will be eligible to receive funds, if we are unable to meet your full request we will work with you to access other resources. The Salem State Food Pantry is a resource for students who may be experiencing food insecurity. The pantry offers non-perishable food items as well as various toiletries and hygiene products. Located on the first floor of the Ellison Campus Center, the hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am-10 pm.
