What is the Career Closet?
The Career Closet provides Salem State University students access to new and gently-used career-ready attire. The Career Closet started as an annual event that provided access to more than 6,000 free career-ready attire pieces to over a1,000 students.
Today, the Career Closet is a permanent service where students can shop from free career-ready attire during career closet hours and individual shopping appointments!

How can I access the career closet?
The Career Closet is located in the Ellison Campus Center and during the regular 2024-2025 school year will be open from 11 am-3 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting September 18.
Students can also set up a personal shopping appointment using the Handshake App.

The Career Closet needs your support to continue providing our students with the attire and professional accessories they need to succeed. By contributing, you help ensure that students have the right outfits to make a lasting impression at networking events and job interviews, setting them up for success in the next phase of their careers and lives.
You can donate your gently used or new, professional attire to help our Vikings look their best for job searches, interviews and careers!
We accept both new and gently-used, contemporary, ready-to-wear, career-appropriate professional attire in all sizes including:
- Clothing Hangers
- Full Suits
- Suit Coats and Jackets
- Pants
- Dresses and Skirts
- Tops
- Sweaters, Cardigans, and Vests
- Shoes
- Professional Accessories including: Brand new nylons, Socks, Scarves, Ties, Belts, Jewelry, Padfolios, Professional bags, Purses
All career-appropriate clothing donations must be laundered and/or dry-cleaned and ready-to-wear. No donations should need repairs.
Donation collection boxes can be found in the following locations:
- Ellison Campus Center, Room 105
- Bertolon School of Business (area below the Student Navigation Center)
